Update March 2025:

Britford Field (Site 6) has been included in the Wiltshire Local Plan Review which was submitted to the Secretary of State for Housing Communities and Local Government on 28th November 2024. The documents along with all the submitted comments will be examined independently by the the Planning Inspectorate, this is a continuous process and is likely to take a number of months.

Once confirmed, all details relating to the examination process including the hearing sessions, will be advertised and made available online on the Wiltshire Council website.  The Local Plan and relevant accompanying documents are also available to view on the Wiltshire Council Website, paper copies of the documents are available for viewing at the following hubs:

Monkton Park, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN15 1ER

The Council House, Bourne Hill, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP1 3UZ

County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, BA14 8JN .

The Parish Council are working closely with a Planning Consultant and Clive Onions to prepare our objections at the next stage in the process. We are looking at engaging further professional advice to support our objections again this development.

Britford Parish Council are focusing solely on site 6 and the flood risks of development to this area, therefore all our resources will be directed to objecting to this

We support the Halt Harnham Housing campaign and will help where we can regarding the traffic concerns they have. For more information on the HHH campaign please email: harnham.housing@gmail.com.

A donation of £1,000 has been made to the Halt Harnham Housing Campaign from the Britford Field Fund to help their objections, the remaining funds of £4,722 will be used towards the continued objections of the development of Site 6.

We will keep you updated at we progress, please keep checking the website for updates.

Wiltshire Council are proposing to build 220 homes on the field that currently separates Britford Village from Salisbury.

We are raising funds to pay for professional planning, legal and flood advice to show that it is not sound policy in the Wiltshire Local Plan to build 220 houses on land which is:

– immediately adjacent to flood plain and two conservation areas;

– the final field separating the ancient and distinctive settlement of Britford from the city of Salisbury.

Such a plan would have major adverse impacts on:

1) the ancient heritage and distinctive landscape settings of Britford.

 2) traffic congestion,

3) ground and surface water flooding,

Monies raised will be allocated for Britford Parish council to use for purposes connected to fighting this process and in the event of there being surplus monies by the end of the Local Plan planning process they will be used for purposes to enhance the Parish of Britford.

Please help us save Britford and keep the distinction between us and Salisbury City as well protect the history of our Parish.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated and can be made directly to the Parish Council:
